Secrets Of Motivation
Everyone at one time or another struggles with lack
of motivation. Time constraints, health issues, jobs, family, and
finances all take their toll on our energy levels. So why is it that
some people seem to have a never ending supply of energy, time, and
happiness while others struggle to get by? How can we fix our problems?
•
Recognize the Impact of Actions: Every single action that you instigate
affects your life. The first key to motivation is to teach yourself to
see the impact that the decisions you make today have on tomorrow, next
week, or next year. Any one single thing that you think or do is a
cause set in motion and each result is a different direction that your
life can take. From skipping a workout to watch tv to eating that
extra pieces of cake instead of some fruit, each interaction sends
ripples out that change everything they come in contact with. If you
procrastinate today, the effect is not localized to just doing the task
tomorrow. What you have done is to set a pattern in motion that will
alter your life.
• Make a Commitment to Yourself: Learn to be
selfish! This is not a negative thing. If you do not take the time
for yourself, you will have nothing to give when the time comes.
Taking the time to build yourself up is an investment that has enormous
consequences on your future. Take exercise or nutrition for example;
when you make a commitment to exercise or eat you do not simply get
good health and feel good. The results spider web out to every single
are of your life. You are literally programming your subconscious mind
for success by instilling on a deep level the drive to accomplish what
you set out to do. People tend to overlook and ignore how a simple
thing like making a commitment to yourself has a direct effect on
finances, mental health, and emotional health, as well as physical
health.
• Condition your mind: No amount of positive thinking is
going to keep you motivated if you do not learn to condition your mind
properly. The way we view what we need motivation to accomplish must
be put on the right track. For instance, if we need motivation to
continue working out and eating right to lose weight, we have to learn
to condition our mind to link abundant happiness and joy to the process
of losing weight and eating right. If this step is skipped, no amount
of will power in the world will keep you on your diet and exercise
plan....because you hate doing it! Look at any person who has achieved
any type of goal, be it fitness, finances, weight loss, or job security
and you will see one thing they all have in common. They enjoy what
they are doing! It is a very simple fact that if you hate or dislike
what you are doing, you will try less, your energy will be less and the
results will not be what you wish for. This simple psychology is one of
the most powerful lessons to be learned when looking to make a
difficult lifestyle change.
So how do we condition our minds?
There are many different approaches and you must find what works for
you. How about sitting down and making a list of all the ways your
goal will give you ultimate happiness and joy. How it will enrich your
life, how amazing you will feel, what you can accomplish, who you can
help, how you can inspire friends or family, how it will make your life
better in every way. When you are finished with this list, make
another one with all the ways that this will ruin you if you do not do
it immediately. Write down how you will feel, what your self esteem
will be like, how you will not reach your goal, how you wont be able to
do any of the things you wanted, etc.
It is imperative that you
understand and feel just how awful your life will be if this is not
accomplished. The more pain you associate with not doing your activity
the better. The more pleasure you associate with accomplishing this
activity, the better. Read these lists over and over. In a short
period of time, your body will begin to crave the very thing you
thought was impossibly hard to do before. Try telling yourself out loud
how much you enjoy what you are doing. Do this every day for several
minutes. Your brain cannot tell the difference and will soon start to
associate happiness with what you are doing.
Expect more: I have
learned to expect more from myself than anyone else possibly ever
could. I remember this phrase any time I need the motivation to
continue or when the times comes to choose between say, an orange juice
or a beer. Telling myself this over and over again, when I am on the
edge of making a poor choice, this phrase pops in and it is often all I
need to tip the scales in my favor. It is always astonishing to me how
people tend to justify their horrible behavior but never take the time
to justify their good behavior. People have so much trouble spending
10 dollars on fruit and greens to stay healthy but have no problem
spending double that at the bar or the coffee shop.
Remember,
whether you reach your goals or not is based on your behavior in this
moment. Life is not complicated. Act or be acted upon. The choice is
yours. Invest in your own physical, emotional and meantal health to gain momentum in every other area of your life. Your brain only works as well as the blood that supports its function.
TheDynamics of Motion System was designed to get you going immediately on the first step. The more you move, the more energy you generate, period. Think of all you can do with your new found energy. When you are vibrant and move, your energy becomes contagious and has a direct effect on every other area of your life. Try it for a month or two, give it an honest effort and watch what happens to
your motivational levels in every single area of your life.
